Did not work with BMW E36 as claimed
Would not communicate with 1998 BMW E36 engine module so I returned it. Other than that the phone app and communicator worked as described.

Scanner has worked exactly as advertised
Little thing works good. Took a little bit to figure out how to navigate the different functions. Bought it to just register a battery swap in a BMW. Worked perfectly. Just for fun used the deep scan on a few cars and found codes in the computer that never cause the CEL to come on.

Works great, does not need subscription
My second device. I really like that it is a much smaller device and that I can use my phone via Bluetooth and the free app to diagnose. Much easier than using a device with a cable attached to it. I love the function that I can just click on the error code and get a Google result with an explanation.

Great tool for my BMW 740i
I changed my battery and needed this diagnostic tool to register the new battery and this device worked excellent for that purpose. I also needed a tool to fully diagnose my car and this is an exceptional scan tool and I love that it is Bluetooth compatible.

Very good scan tool with a few language quirks.
The media could not be loaded.
This is a very good BMW Specific scan tool. In the video you can see a deep scan of all the systems on a 2015 x3 (F25). We had a battery fail about a year ago, and you can see the error codes are directly related to that. These BMWs are sensitive little things!I also tried a battery test (not this tester’s strong suit) and I couldn’t understand the directions on screen. After giving an initial screen with battery information, you click through and it gives you a screen with “Start Energy” and a cancel button. There is a little car animation at the top. Does it mean “start engine”? I tried that and it made no difference, stayed on the same screen. Maybe I just didn’t give it enough time. At any rate, the documentation on this part was not understandable. Thus 4 stars instead of 5.

Excellent for BMW’s
I’m not that Tech minded but this was super easy to use and better value for money that other options out there. It will open up a new world of error codes for you to get confused with especially of you have battery problems like I did, as that creates lots of error codes. This scanner though allowed me to reset them all. I purchased this to avoid dealer fees to allow my BMW E60 to recognise I had installed a new battery.

Super easy to use
My BMW is a 2011 and is showing signs of age. Things are lighting up. I decided to get my own reader instead of going to the garage every time. It is working amazingly. Just a touch and I’ve got all the info at my fingerprints. I’ve cleared a couple codes just by the advice to change my gas cap. Love it.

Ancel BD300 dongle for BMW
I have a 2014 BMW X1 xdrive28i. The local BMW dealership quoted me almost $500 for a battery and to register it. I got on YouTube and watched a video of a battery register on a BMW with this device. I was very very skeptical. I went ahead and bought this device. I purchased a battery from Autozone. Went home installed the battery after watching a YouTube video on that part too. I installed the Ancel app on my Samsung Galzy 22 Ultra and I plugged the dongle into my OBD port. The app instantly recognized the device. I tried to register the battery on the first attempt. IT said not supported. I tried again. It said the same thing. I did not have my key fob in my car and the car wasn’t on. After I put the key in the car and attempted again. It worked perfectly. The app walks you thru the entire process and it took less than one minute to complete. I had heard horror stories about registering a BMW vehicle battery without using the dealership. Things from the car not starting at, wiper blades turning on and not stopping. The radio being locked out and not working. Windows not working. I was SCARED to say the least. After the registration process. I paused for a while and bit the bullet and pushed the start button. The car started. Nothing funny happened. I turned on the wipers they worked. Headlights worked, radio worked, windows worked. Car went into reverse, drive and park. The only other thing I had to do was reset the clock. I am very very happy I made this purchase and gave Ancel a chance. This is gonna save me a ton of money in the future.

It did work for my 2019 m240i but I had to watch some internet videos to figure out how to use it
It plugged right into my car’s diagnostic port, and the app I installed on my android phone found it right away via Bluetooth. As other reviewers have said, the app is not easy to use or to understand. I was able to register a new battery after watching one video. I had to go back into the house and search for/watch another video to reset the brake fluid. I felt a little better watching the guy (who was a mechanic and very familiar with BMW maintenance) fumble around using the app also. It’s too difficult for me to use. After reading reviews, I’m going to try the AUTOPHIX 7910 next.

Saves you so much money
Was told by Auto zone I had to go to a shop to get my battery replaced bc it required the battery to be registered and to program it to the car and diagnostic trouble codes will need to be reset etc. The shop and dealership all said between $800-900 total. Researched and found this on amazon. Bought my battery for $279 from auto zone and put it in myself and used this to reset, register etc everything you need to do with the battery within one hour. It’s has been months with no issues and my BMW 535i M sport performance runs as it did when I first bought it years ago. So bottom line is I saved around $600 and used it on a family vacation as some extra spending money :).

Just what I needed
I was able to confirm the issue with my BMW and order the correct parts. After the work was completed I cleared the codes and confirmed the repairs solved the issue (coolant pump and thermostat). Will use this when it comes time to replace the battery as well.

Perfect for registering new battery in my BMW
Excellent online instructions made it easy to register a new battery, which otherwise would have required purchase of battery and installation from a dealer. The savings went far beyond the cost of this device, which remains available to me for future use in battery registration as well as to access my BMW’s computer for other reasons such as resetting after an oil change.

I love that this is designed with BMW vehicles in mind
This BT code scanner works well. It’s easy to use, but I always worry about installing apps from Chinese companies. You just never know if they are honest and I hate that I feel that way, but there is a reputation some have for being unscrupulous.I do believe they are charging a tad too much for this code reader as there are others, such as the Carly Universal Scanner that has a fantastic reputation, costs the same (it’s on sale right now for the premium version. It’s the difference between the free and paid app from what I can tell) and has way more features and abilities.

Easy to use, seems comprehensive for diagnosis, app not good for “additional” gauges
This Bluetooth OBD reader is fairly easy to use on my 2011 135i. You do need to download & install on your phone the APP that goes with this. The app paired with the device right away (red led when not paired, green when paired). Once you select your vehicle series & drill down to your vehicle you can then preform several scans. The app also allows you to view “real” time data (there can be a little lag) of various sensors / functions. These can be helpful when to view changes in values over time, revving the motor or driving depending on what you are looking at.When I did a full scan it did find 1 code that seemed to be a left over from previous work (instrument cluster) & I was able to clear that code. It did not appear back after a subsequent scan.I am the 3rd owner of my car, still has the battery that was installed prior to my purchase several years ago. The scan did not provide any information about the battery outside of being able to test the voltage. I could have recorded data about the battery if I knew it. As I don’t need to replace the battery currently, I can’t say how well this really works with the battery “registration” process, but knowing this has this should make this work the price of purchase. The app does not appear to offer what some other do where you can select to view several reading at once in gauge form (to show temp, pressures & several others at once). Maybe that is something the developers can add.Outside of my last point, I do like the adapter so far & like that this is Bluetooth & not WIFI as another similar adapter I have is so I still have my WIFI reception while using the adapter.

Awesome deep scan tool for BMW!
I’ve been a long time user of cheap ELM327 scan tools with apps like Torque (Android) and Car Scanner (iOS), as well as dedicated handheld OBDII diagnostic tools. They’ve worked pretty well for me over the years, and do a pretty decent job of reading out basic OBDII diagnostic and realtime status information. My E46 BMW is nearly 20 years old and has a ton of individual “private” subsystems that I simply couldn’t access without dealer diagnostic tools. Until now, that is.I was pretty skeptical of this tool at first since not only does it look like one of these generic OBDII adapters that you find everywhere but it only works with a special app. However, there are a few clues that suggested it might be just a little bit more.First, the device isn’t an ordinary serial ELM327 but a more sophisticated device that actually has upgradeable firmware with software support on iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. That means there’s some significant development time behind this product. Second, this device is BMW specific and can communicate with all of the various CAN bus subsystems on the car. That is a higher level of sophistication and requires some extra hardware to enable access.Setup was trivial. I installed the iOS app from the App Store, started it up, and granted the app permission to access Bluetooth. It starts scanning for the tool immediately and connects within seconds of turning the car on. If it doesn’t connect to the device after about 30s it drops you into an extensive connection guide that walks you through the process. This app has a ton of functions with nifty menus and animated transitions. Primary diagnostic functions are extensive and include the standard OBDII diagnostics, battery registration, ETC resets, brake pad replacement, service indicator reset, and BMW-specific diagnostics. The OBDII functions are pretty standard but this app presents them in a very useable way. There’s an automated self check that just reads out and reports all the standard OBDII trouble indicators. You can look up individual trouble codes, read the live datastream, pull up a customizable dashboard (like Torque Pro) for quick display of realtime information. You can access freeze frame information (info captured when a trouble code is recorded), see pending codes as well as active codes, check your O2 sensors and on-board monitors, etc. There’s also “performance test” which is really acceleration and stop testing, trip recording, and a bunch more. The special BMW diagnostics are where this tool really shines. When you run that you first have to input the make, model, and trim for your vehicle after which the device sets up communications. There are only a few functions – System Scan which allows a “quick” or “deep” system inspection that extracts info from every subsystem, Special Functions which is a more granular version of the service indicator reset and ETC reset functions and Manual Select which allows you to dig into individual subsystems. There are literally dozens of different subsystems on these cars and mine initially reported something like 48 different trouble codes. Going through them you’re able to click on them which brings up a google search allowing you to really quickly zero in on some relevant information. In my case I recognized codes from past service activities like battery replacement, suspension work, etc. as well as codes that related to glitchy behavior that I’ve been having (such as my passenger mirror not returning to the correct position). The best part is that this allows you to clear codes for individual subsystems – I cleared the codes for all the stuff I recognized but left the codes for issues that I know are present. That’s cool! There are some other ancillary functions such as a Feedback tool, a Help center with basic information and procedures, a “Member Center” login (no idea, haven’t used it), a Flashlight, and Settings where you can find application config and device setup, including firmware updates and a way to restrict the app to a specific device which can be useful if you have several of them in use in a shop.I am absolutely ecstatic with this gadget since all I was looking to do was replace a lost scan tool. I wasn’t expecting nearly the amount of information or capability. It costs about twice what my previous “high end of the low end” tool cost but in my opinion it’s way more than worth it.Highly recommended.

Amazing abilities
This is a fabulous Bluetooth dongle from Ancel. I purchased this to use on my 2014 BMW 335i and I’m thoroughly impressed with the capabilities. Anyone who owns a BMW knows how expensive it is to have a dealer diagnose an issue, That being said this tool pays for itself in the first use. Simply plug the scanner into your BMWs on board OBD port, download the app and find your problem! The app is quick and easy to use. I love having a small Bluetooth dongle like this in my car, if I ever have an issue I can diagnose it right on the spot. Excellent product as always from Ancel.

Compact and very easy to use
This unit is very compact and easy to use.1. Install the app on smartphone, no registration required as it should be.2. Plug it in to car’s ODBII port, turn on car’s power.3. Enable Bluetooth on the phone, run the app and thr app will search and connect to the device by itself.4. Once you are connected, the app will show you a selection of tools to check the car, the app will promptyou particular diagnostics item require ingition to be on or of.If it’s found erro codes, it will display brief description and a link for search more detail on the web. While this unit can be used for all ODBII compatible cars, it has special menu section for BMWs.Of one particular thing with BMW is battery replacement. Not many people knows you can not simply replace a dead battery with a new one. The new battery needs to be “register” with the car’s control module otherwise your new battery may have a very short life. Not all auto repair shop can or willing to do it. Most BMW dealer only want to sell expensive OEM battery, some may be willing to register your 3rd paty battery for a fee from $50-$80. This unit however has a menu item to register the battery. This function alone worth the price of the unit.

BMW diagnostics work well!!
The first vehicle we tried was a 2000 BMW – on it, the BMW diagnostics worked well, but no luck with OBDII (predates maybe?? The connector fits…)The second was a 2015 BMW, and everything worked well there!!Overall, if you have older BMW’s – this is a worth while investment. The special BMW diagnostics are not available in most other OBDII tools.Price is a premium, but at least there’s no subscription needed like some of my other tools.

For my son who has a BMW
I have a similar OBD II I use on my Toyota and love it. I did try a style that was a hand-held unit that attached to my car and while it worked okay, I wasn’t as happy with it because the cord between the plug in and the hand unit was not very long so I was just frustrated having to hold it “just right.” That’s why I like this style – bluetoothed to the app on my phone, the little unit functions without a cord and my phone can go with me as I read the app’s findings. So, this one being made for BMWs is for my son and when he downloaded the app, plugged the unit into his car, he was really impressed with the diagnostics. These truly help when you feel something is going on with your car – either you hear it or you see the check engine light (or other light) come on. Definitely worth having it for your car and your peace of mind!
