issue with mic on pemp screen
Overall the unit works well. I only have one issue which is when on a phone call in Carplay the other person can’t hear me well, i’m either choppy or my audio simply doesn’t come through to the caller. I’ve adjusted mic gain’s lower and higher (no change) and removed the external mic connector from the harness as recommended in another video. Also tested making the phone calls through bluetooth on the pemp screen and i get the same issue. i’d like to use the built-in mic from the pemp screen, is there another solution to this?

Android for BMW, CarPlay
I like the updated monitor looks. I needed to replace the Factory screen on MY 2015 528i x Drive so I gave it a try. The problem with this unit was that it needed a software update that I got by email from the factory in China. I did the upgrade and after many troubleshoots and emails from their service department somedays it works and others just there is no Carplay. So for the price and looks it is ok. I was quoted $4000 plus by the BMW dealer to get a new infotainment unit(which by the way is made in China) installed so I am overall happy with my purchase but it is not 100% perfect. It has Bluetooth issues of connection bugs that have to be improved.

Great system
Do not believe reviews that it shows original system incorrectly, you just have to select proper screen size. System works fine, has some minor issues. By the way it based on the cell phone and when you insert phone sim card you can add phone app to your navigation and use it in the car as second phone line.Overall I like this systemupdate: Using this system for a while works good, if you have question, getting answer very quickly. they have best after sales customer support

Awesome Product & Support
This screen is super easy to install and looks great in the car. I’m so glad I made this upgrade. The best part is the email support they provide. They are very responsive and helpful. They worked with me regarding wireless CarPlay…and they never quit on me. I learned ultimately that wireless CarPlay is a finicky set up even factory oem . It works, iOS is just a bit funky. I use the unit wired and it works great!!! The point is that their support is amazing. I would not hesitate buying a product from Pemp in the future. Go For It!

Fantastic upgrade over factory unit
The media could not be loaded.
I was apprehensive based on a number of reviews, but I am completely and thoroughly impressed. Considering what an upgrade this unit is over the factory installed unit I cannot imagine why anyone would not give it high ratings. I have not had trouble learning to navigate the screen or accessing the original menu or the aftermarket menu. The sound quality from the auxiliary port is completely sufficient. I am by no means an audio file, but I do pay attention to detail and can hardly decipher the difference between the original systems. Sound quality and streaming con tent, now provided through the auxiliary port. in my opinion this upgrade may have given me 5 to 10 more years of relevance with my older BMW. I did go with T-Mobile for the Sim card and it works flawlessly. The Internet service allows Spotify Waze, and other apps to operate Aside from the Apple play or hotspot.. The owners, manual and instruction Manual is somewhat limited, but this device operates almost exactly like an android tablet. There is much information available on YouTube, and on the Internet at large …..I have not come across a question that I was not able to find an answer to.So if you find yourself as I was hesitant to order because of a couple of critical reviews, I would like those concerns aside and enjoy all of the upgrades that this unit provides.

Had it installed for a year. Apple CarPlay doesn’t work. Wireless or wired.
It went in well enough. Hardest part was getting all of the cables stuff into corners to make it work. The only reason I invested in it was the Apple CarPlay. The fact that it has never worked just makes me mad, every time I look at it. I have been all over their site and support with no success.

Very good, almost great. Easy plug in play install.
FIRST if you read the reviews saying the OEM car functions are stretched/cut off or not displaying properly, please read the manual regarding the ‘factory settings’ there is a password in the manual to access the ‘factory settings’ in the menus. Once you access the settings you can make system changes such as the size of your OEM screen to fix that issue. This was a ‘deal breaker’ for me until I realized I just needed to configure it properly. Other than that it does just what it says, your android UI is layered on top of the BMW UI so you can easily click to get the car UI screen and then use the knob and do all previous car functions etc, touch the screen and it reverts back to android or use the hotkey. My only issues with the unit are around android apps crashing which could be resolved via future updates, so that’s the reason I put 4 stars instead of 5. I use WAZE to drive and it would crash 30 seconds in to the trip, relaunch and crash. If I find a resolution I’ll let you know. The workaround is using the android auto mode and doing waze via the phone, but that would defeat the purpose of having the app and a sim card making the head unit work independently of the phone. If I wanted android/carplay only there are cheaper alternatives, and may return the unit for a carplay/android auto version using the same screen if the apps still remain an issue.

Great product!
I am super surprised about the quality and functionality of the device. There are some things that need improvement; such as, the oem menu is not oriented right. Only half of the screen is utilized for the oem side of things. For instance, if I need to check my oil level, it won’t display the level. Kinda a big concern. THE SELLER REACHED OUT AND FIXED THE OEM MENU PROBLEM. IT WAS AN EASY FIX

Updated review – is a nice upgrade
New edit: I returned my unit. It is good but it was quirky and had a lot of random little bugs. It would lose connection with my iPhone sometimes and wouldn’t come back. I couldn’t switch to the factory menu without the music stopping so using the front camera or the vehicle status features became cumbersome. I opted for the MMI from BimmerTech and have zero complaints about that product.Good:* Large, clear, responsive touchscreen* Different UI themes to align with BMW appearance* iDrive controller integration* Wireless CarPlay* The factory radio is still there and displays properly (depending on your radio, you may need to make adjustments to the display resolution).* Factory 360 and backup cameras work as expected. Not so good:* The instructions included with the package overlook a step or two, but they do refer you to the video tutorial.* I have no idea where the mic is but it sometimes struggles to understand me when dictating a text. ** I fixed this by adjusting the Mic Gain in the “factory” menu.* I fought with Bluetooth and CarPlay for an hour or two to get wireless CarPlay working after a firmware update. ** This turned out to be user error. I had my hotspot turned on for my kid’s iPad which prevented wireless CarPlay.* As mentioned in another review, CarPlay is an app within the Zlink app. It works fine but it’s not always obvious how to get back to it.* My iDrive controller stopped working with it. The controller works for the factory radio. Not sure why. I’ll investigate more. ** This resolved itself after leaving the car off overnight. The install took about an hour, and other than struggling to fit everything inside the dash, it was fairly easy.I’m yet to see if this is worth the cost compared to the internal module that works with the factory screen but time will tell.** Update: after having this for a few days, I revise my statement. It is a legit upgrade. The larger screen is very nice and now that I’ve adjusted to it, I think it is worth the cost. Everything works smoothly and I’ve retained the factory HU features as well. The only thing left is that I wish you could use the Media button to go to the CarPlay audio player. The Nav button takes you to the CarPlay Nav (if you’re in CarPlay) so I’d think similar could be done for media.

Works decently enough
Got this for my f10 M5. Got the NBT 12 inch model with android 11. You have to install an app for wireless car play but it works great. I get into my car, wait about 30ish secs before it links up and starts playing my pandora. Occasionally it will not sync and I would need to restart one of the phone or head unit but I think it is because I have both units connected to my wifi.If you are trying to watch videos from the head unit, it does not work great for that, it is simply not strong enough to play 1080p videos through its native app or VLC. you will have alot of stutter/skipping. But I only intended it for music and GPS which both works great.

Nice effort but needs work.
I ended up returning this and got Road Top Wireless Carplay Retrofit Kit Decoder for BMW NBT system 3 4 5 6 7 Series X1 X3 X4 X5 X6 2012-2016, Support iOS 13 14, Android Auto, AirPlay, Mirroring, Rear View, USB Drive, Firmware Upgrade https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084M1M4P9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_VQ9AJVZB0GY7NT0G0AWR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 instead. The RoadTop unit is cheaper and works a lot better, retains the original menus and aspected ratios for screen. Just hold down the Menu button on the iKnob to switch between the device and OEM BMW menus and screens. CarPlay auto connects too and has screen mirror so you can mirror your phone screen. This unit I am returning gets a 5 star for the effort but has kinks I couldn’t digest.Original BMW menus are cut off and screen is not oriented properly.WiFi on the unit defaults to off on car start so you have to go in settings and turn on WiFi each time to get your phone connected. For CarPlay, you have to use an app on top of the Android system so doesn’t default to CarPlay, also since phone is never connected automatically due to WiFi defaulting to off.Reverse OEM camera is tiny and also not oriented properly.

I installed as shown in the video and all went well but then 20 minutes later the car started making a static noise through the speakers for a little and then stopped. So I went to use the CarPlay again and audio stopped working when it was working before on the android unit. Audio will play through the oem unit but won’t play any audio in android mode

Terrible. Please don’t buy it.
Never felt so disappointed when it comes to receiving a car part. Bought this unit for my 2013 F10 M5. Paid a shop $450 to install it, but this head unit is trash. Phone call quality is really really bad, bluetooth does not work right, Home Screen looks out of portion, and it keeps on freezing up. Totally not worth $600, and I am returning it on the first day of using it. Wasted $450 for installation and my time. Please do not buy this product. It totally sucks.

I installed as shown in the video and all went well but then 20 minutes later the car started making a static noise through the speakers for a little and then stopped. So I went to use the CarPlay again and audio stopped working when it was working before on the android unit. Audio will play through the oem unit but won’t play any audio in android mode

This is a high quality product for cheap. I couldn’t believe the efficiency and the compatibility of it. No error on dash related to installation. The Pemp rear view camera is outstanding. I wanted a g30 but not anymore hahaa…

Figment is perfect.
This will fit perfectly and look like it’s oem. The touch screen is very responsive. Having the option to choose different NBT displays was awesome too. I returned this because I got a check engine light and my backup camera didn’t work. I think the wires a just too bulky at the back and may have been touching things it shouldn’t. I decided to keep my oem screen with a hidden unit instead.

issue with mic on pemp screen
