Works great
Nice charger, great quality and nice holder/ mount for it as well.Set up a plug on the bumper so it’s easier to just plug it in overnight when I get home from working instead of opening the hood to plug it in or have the wire dangle through the grill like most people do. It’s also weatherproof for the plug in the bumper too. So no worries on that either. Nice clean setup from the outside.

Great little battery charger that works excellently and preserves battery life
I’m very happy with the NOCO genius 5 battery charger. It brought my 2-1/2 year-old battery back to a fully charged battery in less than 24 hours, from an approximately 50% (12.3 volt) charged battery and is holding the charge for several months now. I originally bought a combination 4-amp battery charger/maintainer from a great company that has been manufacturing high quality chargers for a very long time but that charger was not able to bring up the charge on my battery any higher than 50% even after two weeks. After I read about battery sulfation, I realized that my battery probably had a sulfation issue since it sits garaged for 2-3 week periods now that I work from home and when I drive it, it’s usually not long enough to recharge it. The charger I had bought did not have de-sulfation capability. I decided to buy the NOCO genius 5 based on lots of great reviews from various sources not just Amazon and also because of all the different functions and versatility it offers. For what you get I think it’s very reasonably priced. It was the same price as my first charger that has far less capabilities. It comes with a detachable cable that has spring-loaded battery terminal clamps. These clamps can be removed leaving only ¼” eyelets that you can then attach directly to the vehicles battery terminal harness mounting clamps for a permanent installation if you prefer. This cable 24” long from end-to-end before connecting it to the shorter cable that is permanently attached to the charger body. I wish NOCO would have provided two separate cables, one with battery clamps and one with the eyelets as many other battery charger manufacturers do. You can buy the eyelet cable separately but I think it’s fairly expensive at $19 at this time. There is also no bag or container for storage, only the cardboard box it comes in.It looks to be put together very well and of good quality. Although since the entire body is plastic, I’m pretty sure if one were to accidentally drop it from an automobile engine height down onto a concrete surface it is likely to crack open.On the bottom of the NOCO charger is says Designed in the USA and Made in Vietnam. The only real complaint I have is the user guide that comes with it. The print is extremely small and very difficult to read. I could see that being a problem for people with poorer eye sight. The user guide does not mention anything about the de-sulfation process that is performed automatically by this microprocessor-controlled charger. De-sulfation is mentioned in the user guide for the 12-volt repair mode but I believe this is different from automatic de-sulfation that occurs during the normal charging mode. Anyway I’m loving this charger and glad I bought it and recommend it to others.

Awesome charger!
Love this thing. It keeps my car battery charged while it sitting in the garage over the winter. The chords are long enough to reach where you need it and the smart function does the work for you. Plug it in, connect to your batter and you’re done. Takes the worry and thinking out of it.

versatile efficient and easy to use
I’m impressed so far with this charger. It arrived quickly in pristine condition and though I needed my reading glasses to read the manual, quick and simple to set up. It even has a mounting system with it to make it’s home in the garage. The cables are a great length making it easy to employ. I hope it keeps me as happy as I am.

Great!
I have a MT-47/H7 Interstate battery. It had been sitting for roughly 3.5 years and was completely dead. I pulled it out of the vehicle, plopped it on the counter and hooked up the charger. It would work for about 30 minutes then claim the battery was charged. It wasn’t. The battery was completely dead. I needed to put the unit into force mode. I’d recommend this regardless. The issue is the manual is wrong. Once I figured it out, it worked great. The NOCO charged it in roughly 1.5 days. Battery works great now. The build quality appears to be really good. My major complaint and the only reason this didn’t get 5 stars- The manual stinks. It’s extremely small and the font used is even smaller. It’s hard to read and worse like I said above, it’s actually wrong. Following the manual will not get you into force mode. In my opinion that’s how you should charge a dead battery. Do this- Plug the NOCO into the wall, press and hold the button for 7 seconds. The unit will start to flash the various battery options. Select your battery type. Now connect the NOCO to the battery. This will force the NOCO to charge for roughly 5 minutes to get some juice into the battery, it will then switch to it’s normal charging process.

Great charger for the money
We have 3 cars at our house, and we live in the Arizona heat, so it’s not unheard of that one of us is having battery issues. This charger is great – gets the batteries back where we need them. It’s small and easy to use. I didn’t need (and didn’t want to pay extra for) the faster charging of the Noco Genius 10 (3 hours vs 6 hours) since I charge overnight, so this Noco Genius 5 is perfect for us – great charger and great value for the money. Highly recommend it.

Excellent Smart Charger for most battery types
This is one of the top rated smart chargers for your car/boat/motorcycle battery. It is capable of charging regular flooded lead-acid, AGM, Gel, and Lithium-Ion 12-volt car batteries as well as regular flooded lead-acid 6-volt batteries. It is thermal compensated to adjust charging depending on the ambient temperature, which I understand is important especially for more advanced types of batteries (AGM and Gel). It is also a multi-stage charger, specifically 9 stages (see NOCO’s support page https://no.co/support/understand-charging-steps) These stages are Analyze, Diagnose, Recovery, Initialize (soft start), Opportunity, Bulk, Absorption, Optimization, and Maintenance. According to NOCO you can keep this on your battery 24/7, 365 days/year since it won’t overcharge the battery – once it reaches 100% it turns off the charging and just monitors it to add charge if it drops (maintenance stage). This version, along with the Genius 1,2, and 10 amp versions are their latest generation. The clamps are beefier than previously and have integrated eyelets for directly connecting to your battery. This charger also employs a proprietary connection called X-Connect allowing you to use additional accessories from NOCO or Amazon such as a 10-foot extension cable. In addition to the normal charging you can specify REPAIR mode (hold down the mode switch) which can help restore over-sulfated batteries. One nice feature is a force charge mode, which allows you to put a 5-minute charge on a completely dead battery which can then be normally charged. This shouldn’t be necessary very often since this charger detects voltages as low as 1-volt.One thing I don’t like about the GENIUS5 charger is the cable with the battery clamps is too short. I would like to be able to bolt it to my battery posts and dangle the connector somewhere out of the engine (like under the front grill) so charging would just be a matter of hooking up the charger to the X-Connect connection. That being said, NOCO does sell an on board, direct mount 2-amp charger that you can keep permanently mounted in your engine compartment (called Genius2D).In selecting this charger I considered the amp-hour rating of my battery which is 70aH. According to NOCO, their Genius2 (2-amp) charges batteries with a battery capacity of 40aH, and the Genius1 (1-amp) at 30aH. That’s why I went with the 5-amp version, but from what I’ve read on the forums the only disadvantage you get with the lesser amp versions is they take longer to charge the battery – so I’m probably being too concerned. In terms of the Genius 10, 10-amp charger, there are 3 advantages, the higher amperage so batteries get charged faster, there is the capability of charging 6-volt AGM batteries, and the charger can act as a 12-volt power supply (for example, they can be a memory keeper hen replacing car batteries, or power a tire air compressor, for example). Since those features weren’t important to me I saved money with the 5-amp version. The direct competition with NOCO chargers are the CTEK chargers which Jay Leno advertises. In reviews, however, the CTEK apparently runs very hot (a little over 100-degrees F), so I would be concerned about early life failure. Also the CTEK’s are more expensive, but on the plus side they show status lights for the multi-stage charging, while the NOCO just shows percentage of charge (in addition to charging mode).

Keeps my AGM battery happy and ready
Easy to use. Maintains my AGM battery when I don’t use my truck and I use my truck once a month for a few miles. It charges reliably too. And it can stay connected while my hood is closed.

Ford 2013 Escape Battery – Charged Perfectly!
I don’t drive my 2013 Ford Escape very often and since it sits, the battery drains. Very inconvenient and expensive to have a mechanic come to jump start the battery. After researching chargers, I liked the price point and features of the NOCO GENIUS 5 smart car charger. It was a bit difficult to get the black clip on the battery, as the Ford battery is hidden partly under the front dash. But I was able to get it on without removing any parts. Yeah.I plugged all the wires in and the Smart Charger knew the battery type and started charging. After a while, I checked on the charger at it was HOT. That concerned me. But I went to the NoCo website and learned that it can get hot (185°F) but it has a feature, if it is too hot, it will shut off until it cools down.It took about 5 hours to fully charge the battery. The book said it could take up to 12 hours to full charge.I like that the unit is small. I don’t have to move my Escape out of the garage with a dead battery to hook it up. You will probably need a heavy duty extension cord, to plug the charger into an electrical outlet. As women with a physical handicap, I was very happy to find a Charger that I could hook up and get my Escape running again.

Revived a very dead battery
We neglected one of our spare cars due to some maintainance isses, long story short, it sat for 6+ months. Needless to say the battery was very dead, able jump start, but failed upon restarting.Got the NOCO Genius 5 and did the basic charge cycle. Strange as the battery appeared to charge quickly, but seperate tester still said it was bad, needed to be replaced. So ran the “repair” cycle on the Noco, and after about 2 days, tried the charge cycle again. This time the charging took about 1.5 days, which is was a good sign. After, battery was good, tester confirmed it was back to 88% capacity.Nice tool to have around for situations like this. I can see a good use for a car that is not used very often is to leave it connected and trickle charging.

Works great for me.
We have 2 older cars that we might drive once a week. And with this colder weather,, the cars will not start. So I just bought this unit because I bought their smaller older charger in 2018, the 1.1 amp. It has been working great for our cars. So now I decided to buy this one for the 2nd car. I would buy another one if I needed one.

Awesome little charger
Repaired a battery that I bought earlier this year, but had been allowed to sit for six months during the summer without use. Repair option rejuvenated the battery that I was getting ready to swap out at Autozone, and it charges fully and holds a charge well. So impressed!

Saves Batteries, Saves Money
This charger is great, I had a problem with taking long vacations. Cars with Keyless entry will go dead if not used for any length of time. The car continuously searches for the fob. This charger not only prevents the battery from going dead when it’s plugged in, but it will also re-charge and re-condition the battery if you forgot to plug it in while you were away. The 7 year old AGM battery in my car has been drained to nothing a few times and it is still going strong.

Best battery charger for the price range
I was initially introduced to Noco at my technical schools automotive shop we have to Noco Genius 10 there that had a few more options than this one but they are very similar still. I bought this one on Black Friday so I got a good deal on it I don’t remember how much it was but it was a definite when I saw the price. Unlike what most will think the battery repair function does in fact actually bring the car’s battery health back up. I tested this by setting it up on my AGM battery in my Volkswagen and running it overnight. my Topdon AL500 said my battery was at 42% battery health before setting it up, after a overnight run on the repair function it was up to 55% battery health. In my opinion that one function alone justifies this buy.

Works with ANY battery chemistry or type
This works with all three battery chemistries – flooded lead acid, AGM, and Lithium. 5 amp is a sweet spot for charging and maintaining multiple size batteries. It can be used for kid’s toy batteries, car and marine batteries, and even heavy equipment batteries. Obviously, the speed of charging is directly related to the size and capacity of the battery, but it is not too large for even small batteries. It features multi-stage charging and might be able to rejuvenate a battery that has lost capacity due to age. I have not tried this yet, but the instructions detail how to do it and that coincides with my knowledge of how to restore some capacity to sulphated batteries due to age and low storage charge. I have had it only a month, and charged 6 batteries with it, but it appears to be a high-quality charger. The included cables and clamps are certainly high quality and I assume the charger is built to the same standard.

Got this 2 years ago. It saved 2 of my batteries and they are still going strong.
Because of the pandemic I wasn’t doing much driving and slowly my batteries weakened without my realizing it. I have a 2011 Optima AGM red top battery and one of those tiny batteries they put in certain cars from 2014. The Optima may have been nearing the end of its life but this little charger brought it back. Saved me a bundle of money on new batteries. The generic battery that would replace the Optima would be $100 and the generic battery that would have replaced the 2014 would have been a whopping $165. I’m used to spending $45-$55 on batteries so I don’t know what’s going on nor why battery prices are so ridiculous. The batteries aren’t perfect but I top them up every other weekend with the NOCO and they are great for a couple weeks.

You Need To Understand It
I have four deep cycle, AGM batteries sitting in my garage. All the same age and usage. Two of them I charged with a car battery charger (cheap one) set on AGM. It only charged to 12.7 volts. That is typical of a car battery to be fully charged. Well, an AGM battery fully charged should be about 13 volts. So I bought this charger. I tried it first on the two batteries mentioned above. It would not charge them any further. Then I tried it on the other two batteries that were more discharged. It brought both of them right up to 13.1 Volts…….perfect!!! This is what I learned, these automatic chargers use an algorithm for charging. The first two (charged with the car battery) did not give the charger enough time to analyze the battery with the algorithm. The other two batteries being more discharged gave the charger enough time to figure it out. So I discharged the first two batteries a little and the charger brought them up to 13 volts. What I learned….you need to give the charger some time to analyze the battery and then to choose how to charge it. This is a fine charger and I would recommend it for others to purchase.

Worked like a charm
I have a c 300 Mercedes and the battery went dead as I don’t drive much bc I work from Home (the battery is about 3 years old). I decided to try charging vs buying a new battery and having to pay for Install. Let’s just say, I’m amazed. I initially hooked the positive clip to the positive terminal used to jump start my car but the noco device would not pick up the charging progress. So, after 24 hours I hooked the positive clamp to the battery and left the negative clamp on the designated bolt provided with my car. The noco device immediately went to pulsating green. My car started up and I ran it around the block. I also checked my battery charge with a voltage Meter and my battery had perfect numbers with the car turned off and on. Glad I found this neat gadget. It’s easy to use and Now, my car battery will stay charged while it sits….and I saved several hundred $$. Win, win!

This is a SMART system.
I purchased this unit as a battery maintainer. Upon receiving my NOCO Genius5 I read the user manual and discovered that this is much more than just a maintenance device, although in my case that will be its primary function. I went out to the garage and installed it on the vehicle being stored and to my surprise, that was all I had to do. Being a “smart” device, it read the existing condition of the battery and adjusted itself accordingly. Maybe some day I’ll have occasion to utilize some of its other features, but until then I’m very pleased with its performance as a battery maintainer.

Can confirm it will charge a car battery that has less than 1 volt
I ordered this because the older 3500 model wouldn’t charge my dead car battery that has sat for a year and only has 1 volt. I can confirm that the Genius5 will charge this type of battery with no problems. Yes, I know the battery is essentially no longer suitable for normal use but I only need to start the car once.

Great design, high quality, charges quickly
Great design and even the packaging was well done. All the parts seem well engineered,, should last for decades. For my first time using it, my bike had been sitting for over a month so I assumed it would take at least 30 minutes to fully charge. The Genius 5 brought it back to 100% in about 5 minutes! 5 amps seems like more than enough charging power for a motorcycle battery. Highly recommend.

I don’t know if its weather proof!
I always use charger in my garage to keep my spare car battery ready to go. I bought a new car for my wifeand I just kept her old one and my old one. I rotate use every other tank of gas so battery would probably die in the out of service car if not using this charger. I also use it to charge a 20AH Lifepo battery I use for my mobile ham radio.

Best charger ever
I’ve had many wonky buzzy overheating little tin box chargers over the past 50 years and this is by far the best. Solid state and compact, does not overcharge just set mode to the battery type let it do it’s thing. It has brought some of my long stored discharged batteries back to life that other chargers would not with it’s desulfation setting. Sometimes you can just sense a quality tool by its aesthetic design, solid feel and high grade materials and this is one of them.

Excellent product
I live in Florida which is so hot in the summer. I was watching my neighbors house for the summer, starting his van about once a week. After a month or so the van wouldn’t start as the battery was DEAD. I used a desalt charger box to try a jump but there wasn’t enough juice to get it started. So I did some research and found this little gadget. I watched many you tube vids and gave it a go. Viola! This was such a simple fix! Not only does it charge many kinds of batteries, but it has a force charge mode ( meaning it injects just enough juice into the battery to have the unit detect it enough to produce a charge). Also, it has a repair mode. In my opinion, this is a no brainer, especially if you have a vehicle that sits for any length of time

Revived two dead batteries
I was out of town for 5 months. Got back and both of my cars were dead. Jump starting and running the cars for an hour wasn’t enough to charge the batteries. I bought this thing in hopes it would revive the batteries, and it worked! Both of my cars have been starting just fine, even in below freezing temperatures. My family has 5 vehicles and 2 equipment with batteries so I’m sure we’ll get lots of use out of this.

WOW! Just wow on how well this NOCO GENIUS5 Smart Car Battery Charger works!
Totally speechless on how much better this has worked than the previous two Smart Car Battery Chargers that were “supposed” to provide a reliable and constant “intelligent” trickle charge to keep my car battery in tip top shape and charged. “They had one job to do!” and all failed miserably and left me in precarious situations when I went to check on the car and the battery was TOTALLY DEAD. This NOCO GENIUS5 has been amazing. Excellent implementation of the indicator lights so you know EXACTLY the state of the charge in clear, highly visible stages of the charging process. Incredible product design. Also, provided an added benefit when connected is that the car’s accessory mode provided power to the car while charging, even when the battery was completely dead from the battery Minder Jr. which was utterly useless in keeping the battery reliably charged. I’ve wasted so many years with inferior products that I thought this is just how they all worked. Was I ever wrong, the NOCO is peer bliss with the confidence that this will keep the battery completely under control and topped off for long term trickle charging needs and I never have to think about it not working. Such calmness knowing that when you check on your car the battery will not disappoint. Excellent price paid and I can’t recommend this one enough. Until you’ve gone through 15 years of unreliable battery “trickle” chargers you would understand what a phenomenal product this really is. LOVE IT! Highly Highly recommend the NOCO GENIUS5.

pays for itself
I bought this little unit to hopefully restore batteries that get weak. I have a 2015 agm battery that I took out of my 4 wheeler because it was getting weak. It would not fully charge and on one charger that I had showed to was bad. I used this unit to recharge the battery and then ran a repair with it. After running a repair the battery tested good with 95% capacity. I thought well, can it get even better, I ran a second repair and the battery now charges to 98% and holds 12.66 volts after setting 24 hours. Incredible, this little unit is somewhat expensive but it has already almost paid for itself with this one battery repair. I like the mount that came with it and used it to mount above my work bench but it is real easy to remove the unit to take where ever needed. I also like the high quality clamps. You can’t dislike this little unit if you are a do it yourself type.

Does what I expect it to do. Simple and intuitive to use!
Got this to revive my car’s battery as it’d drained too low to jump start. Upon turning on the key the warning lights on the dash wouldn’t come on, the car’s lights wouldn’t come on so the charge level had gone pretty low. However upon plugging in the Noco, it seems it could detect a charge level and showed a flashing red 1 bar which means it could still be charged without using the force mode. It’s definitely a good thing to have especially if you don’t drive your car daily!

Turbocharged My Electric Wok
Like most people, I bought a wok at some point and ended up not using it after a week of producing lousy Chinese food.Unlike most people, I got really good at it during COVID because I was laid off and my wife was bothering me to do something with my time.Anyway, I’m ready to hit Iron Chef at this point – not bragging, just telling it straight up – but my rig was seriously lagging in the power department. I had already rigged up a 220 V / 40 A circuit dedicated to stir fry but it was missing that oommmmph.Enter the NOCO Genius5. I can turbo my wok with the push of a button, and the 5 A juice (go for the setting for AGM batteries) puts me right under smoke temperature for my tempura. It also is good for charging car batteries.

Easy battery recovery and maintenance
Lately I’ve been unable to drive one of our cars as often just due to logistics and recently when I finally had a window of time where I could take it out the battery was dead. I had just replaced the battery a few months prior and was looking for a way to get the car back up and running.Enter the Noco Genius 5.When I first hooked it up to my car (Mustang GT 5.0L V8), the headlights would start flickering. I figured this would at a minimum delay the charge rate. After some searching in forum for this issue the solution suggested was to disconnect the battery from the car and then use the Noco. I did that and woke up the next morning to a working car after I reconnected the battery. Now I plan to continue to use the Noco to keep the battery healthy so that the car will always be ready to drive when I want. The product is easy to use. Apply the battery clamps per the instructions and then plug the unit in. For me it was then just a matter of waiting overnight for the green light to be on. Well worth the investment. I am so glad I have this.

Excellent for charging your car battery overnight.
I especially like the way the alligator clips are shielded. This prevents possible short circuits from happening if they were to touch each other. Overall I’m very pleased with the charger’s performance.

1 Year of Constant Use Review 365 24/7
This thing is a life saver. It has been in use for one year without any issue. My generator battery topped off so I don’t have to worry about switching the our portable generator on and off all the time. It does exactly what it says it’s going to do and it does it very well. Great value for the money and the perfect match for our generator setup. You can even leave it plugged in while you’re cranking. Believe the reviews here. This is the real deal.

Buzzed
It does what it’s supposed to do, is well made, and comes amazingly well packaged. I don’t mess around with car batteries or electricity so when I needed a charger I opted for the leader in the industry. It’s not a time to cheap out and get some no name off brand bottom of the barrel junk that may or may not work or be safe. Thus far, with light use, this item has served well and not disappointed.

NOCO is the best
These Noco chargers and jump boxes are the best on the market. I started using these at work years ago and was always impressed how they performed. I have bought three jump boxes and four chargers in the last year. They are well worth the investment.

So far it works perfectly.
Very high quality and better than I expected. I was a big fan of Battery Tender but this is just as nice. I would definitely recommend this brand also.

Fanfreakingtastic!
11/17/2022: Saved me from my very tired self, once again… totally dead battery in my car after leaving the trunk open slightly for a week… hooked this up after giving it a cursory jump with the TackLife T8 and left it to do it’s thing. My battery is now in maintenance mode. What a wonderful helper.4/29/2021: Every time I start my mower I am in awe all over again. The battery performs better than it did last year and the year before. My mower starts quickly now without hesitation and I am so thankful. For someone else, this may not be your solution, but for me, a senior on her own, this was far easier than replacing the battery, and now I have it to use for my auto battery that doesn’t get that much use.4/20/2021: Took a bit of work to repair the damage to my lawn tractor battery that I caused, but I’ll be darned, it worked! Ran it through a charge cycle that didn’t seem to do anything and I wasn’t optimistic, but I was persistent. Did another charge cycle that it completed, I think, and then the next day ran the repair. The following day I did yet another charge cycle and tried to start it up and I’ll be darned, it worked! All the damage I did, my negligence, this great gadget fixed. Nothing else I own, Battery Tender, Jump n Carry, etc. would do anything. I bought a different jump starter, TackLife T8 Pro, that actually got it started but all that did was show me how truly dead the battery was. As soon as I turned off my mower it wouldn’t start again. Noco Genius5, and the steps I took, solved that. It wasn’t fun since I’m disabled, and it was time consuming, but the end result is what I wanted and needed. Very satisfied customer.A note about the manual… boy does it need to be fixed. Nothing matched what went on at any stage of my repair and charging. My persistence and a lot of finger crossing made up for really horrible instructions.4/11/2021: My lawn tractor battery is in a disgraceful state and it’s my fault, combined with continual rain since October that prevented me, due to poor health, from taking the steps necessary for year-end maintenance. Big surprise, totally dead battery with 0 volts that nothing I had on hand could resurrect.Tried jumping it with my Jump n’ Carry and it didn’t. Next tried jumping with the TackLife T8 Pro and, boom, it started. Wouldn’t restart and maintain the start so I grabbed the NOCO Genius5 that I bought at the same time as the TackLife. Yesterday I was very discouraged because lights on the Genius5 didn’t appear to be working per the manual. Tried it just now and it’s responding, led-wise, as it should and appears to be charging.Truth told, totally my fault, I should be buying a new battery, but, physically, I can’t do what it takes to do that. Single senior here and my son is on the other side of the country under no-travel orders, so my life is what it is. I must get by whatever means. Really hoping this works. If I can get it charged again I’ll ride this battery as long as I can and then get a new one.

my second noco genius one for me and another for the inlaws
I always buy noco genius for chargers and I’ve always been happy. The other brands I’ve had a cheap other wise. the noco’s are great and fool proof. I used it on a dead as a door nail battery with no issues and it keeps your battery alive if you have a car that sits a long time
