be careful using the actuator wiring video it may cause a fire
i installed this unit into a 96 mustang, however, I was having issues with the door actuators not getting enough power to unlock or lock with the FOB ( you could hear them attempt to work but they would not fully unlock or lock the door!) However, when I pushed the unlock switch in the car it would work fine! upon researching the issue I discovered the amazon video and thought that was my issue! when I connected the wires to the positive and negative as stated in the video they started to smoke and burn through the plastic… I ordered another unit as I am sending this one back im hoping it will work better with the door locks

Great price and does what i need it to
Like the alarm has internal relay to run door locks. That way you don’t have to run external relays. I Like that it has an actual alarm speaker not just connected to the horn. The alarm is not too loud. Motion sensor i have set in the middle did not try to rock car to test sensitivity.I turned off most of the features like passive locking. Not sure if its a setting or not but if i just park the car in my garage and don’t arm the alarm the alarm chirps a few times. Not sure if its normal.Other than that a few reviews talk about the instructions being poor but they must have updated them cos i had two sheets of paper and had no problem installing.

Worked for 05’ Accord LX
Purchased this product for my 2005 Honda Accord LX. The car has power locks and windows but never had a key fob. Decided to purchase this just to try it, not really expensive. I will say the instructions it came with in the box are a little difficult to understand, I used illustrations in this product description. I found the Honda wiring schematic through google. Tapped into P 9 and P25 wiring I believe it was and installed unit using negative trigger. Hope this helps for the Honda users. Been a week use, so far so good

Worked good for a few months than got weird on me.
I used to work for a car audio shop for several years doing stereo and alarm installs…I ordered this for a cheap commuter I bought (an 06 scion xb) I stalled it in about an hour and a half and had zero issues. All of a sudden while I’m driving a couple weeks ago it arms itself and a couple Seconds later it goes off so I disarm and it does it again.I went home and tried reprogramming with no luck, it would not enter valet mode no matter what I did after many hours I gave up and cut it out of my car yesterday out if pure frustration. My install was clean and it worked great up until a couple weeks ago but I will be ordering a better quality alarm and doing another clean install…. Viper

Acceptable unit for the price.
For the price, this alarm is pretty good. I’ve installed a couple of other brands in the past & this is by far the easiest one I’ve ever installed. It’s also the smallest. Having a small main brain makes tucking this under a dash very easy. The reason I say this alarm is almost perfect is because of the 3 chirp reminder. If you disable Passive Arming, the siren will go off 3 times to remind you to set the alarm every single time you open & close a door. If you leave Passive Arming enabled, it only arms the alarm. It DOES NOT lock the doors also. Why on earth anyone would want that feature is beyond me.The built in door lock relays are a huge selling point for me. If you ever installed an alarm & had to go through the hassle of installing relays, you’ll understand why having them built in is outstanding. The antenna is pretty crummy. For one, it’s soldered to the main board, so there’s no way to extend it. Why would you ever want to extend it you ask? Because it’s only about 6-8 inches long. Every other alarm I’ve ever installed had at least a 2-3ft long antenna so you can run it out from under the dash, increasing the key fob range. I haven’t tested the range on this one yet, but I imagine it isn’t great. The wires on the supplied harness are absolute garbage. Worst wires I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve never dealt with “springy” wires before. You try to wrap them around anything & they just spring back. It takes a lot of working them to get them to hold where you want them. This only matters if you’re going to solder them like I did. If you’re using crimps, I doubt it’s an issue. The installation instructions are acceptable. I’ve seen worse. They definitely need some descriptions of the features though. It also lacks a troubleshooting section, I find that quite odd.Customer support, is non existent, literally. If you find a way to contact InstallGear, let me know. Short of physically mailing them a letter, I found no way of contacting them. Their customer support email doesn’t work. If you aren’t familiar with 12V electrical, I recommend having a professional install this.Overall, for the price this car alarm is acceptable. If I could disable that 3 chirp reminder I’d easily give this unit more stars.

I had to do some testing to determine how to install the unit. I needed a relay to drive my trunk solenoid. The gray green brown yellow & blue are two relays. I experimented to determine the normally open, normally closed & common terminals. Seems to work as advertised.

Does the job, remote range sucks.
Installed in a 96 Jaguar, factory remotes are rare and expensive. Easy enough to install on my application, battery and factory alarm computer are in the trunk so wiring was quick and straightforward. I just have to be about 10 feet from the car to operate, like I said, does the job but range of the remote sucks.

If your gonna buy read this first.
mmmm some places do not install off brands like this so this is just a warning. I have installed this myself and it lead me into a world of frustration but i managed to pull through with a lot of time and patience. still haven’t done actuators yet. i have them just need to find time to do them.the wiring can be messy depends how you do it. There are many times where i thought i killed the unit but all i did to fix it was get the car to ( ON not started but not accessories) and click unlock and it should fix many problems and or restart the unit.Another problem that i was pretty disappointed with is that my key fobs did not come with a panic button just the( lock unlock mute-lock/unlock and a red trunk pop that i am not gonna use.the starter kill is very useful got it installed myself and no problems with that.Warning- this has a passive lock mode by default set to on. what this is, it will lock itself after 15 seconds which can be very annoying. so just follow the instructions on turning it off through the key fob and instruction manule ( accessory wire must be plugged in to program the alarm) other wise it will use default settings.i doo really wish the instructions on programming it would have a lot more info but its just very vague.gonna write another update soon after actuators and gonna add pictures soon.

2003 Honda Civic LX
Very impressed with what it does for the money. Key notes from the field.- Find the Lock ( white/blue wire) & and Unlock ( White/Green) wire in the Harness from the door where it comes in under the dash. You can put a piggyback connection on those to the Yellow and Brown on the controller and then Ground for the common.- To add horn on lock see the large fuse panel with lots of wire harnesses under the dash. Use a 10mm to remove the bolt on the bottom to drop it down. Find connector J and the wire 6 is orange. Short this to ground and the horn should blow. You can piggy back this on the lock wire. I thought it was too loud personally- To make the headlights flash on lock follow the procedure above and find the C connector ( 14 Pin) and the Blue wire, when shorted to ground will turn parking lights on.- If you search for the Honda Civic Service manual this is all on page 22-156- For the trunk, mount the acutator on the driver side of the deck lid and use a coat hanger to connect to the lock rod. + The 0.3A output of the trunk connector will not drive the actuator, I used a relay and it worked great. It draws around 3.3.A when I measured it.Good Luck

Unlocked warning feature, three beeps after closing all doors and not locking car
The alarm will give 3 beeps, 10 seconds, after you close the door and you DO NOT lock your doors. Passive locking disabled. This is ANNOYING!. I found no way to turn off this 3 beep unarmed, warning feature. So if you are in your car and open and close your doors, the car will keep beepingthree times 10 seconds after each door closure. Please let me know of programming combo that shuts that off, door alert function on/off does not do it!

works well so far
EDITafter a few months it chirps for no reason and acts like its about to go off.All I really wanted was the door locks so disconnected the siren…Only issues I have had were mostly my own. Its a pain to work under the dash. Finding a Neg signal off the dome light. The instructions dont really cover how to use “reversing” actuators but since I had done those before I got it to work. Only thing I wished it has was a way to use the 3 left over wires from a 5 wire actuator as a switch to open the door locks. ( pins 85 and 86 are internal to the unit )

Just follow the instructions
Easy to install. Everybody else seems to be having issues hooking up the central locking using the instructions provided but I did not. I have positive trigger locks. Followed the instructions as written and the locks work great. Wish the siren was louder but that’s not a big deal.Update. I’ve been having issues with the car’s battery going dead after a day and a half of sitting. Upon performing a parasitic drain test I found the alarm when armed is pulling 344 mA. This is much to high. Once I disarm the system the amperage pull goes right into the safe zone.I dont drive this every day so it is annoying having to jump it every time. Having the battery deep cycle like this is not good for the battery. I am currently looking for another unit.

Very nice alarm system if your good with wiring.
This alarm works great and has lots of features. So far in had no issues and it’s been installed for almost a year. Only complaint is wiring it up is a pain in the butt!!! But this is due to all of it’s feature options. Once I figured it all out and got the Ford lock system to work with it (more of a Ford issue then the alarm itself) it’s worked fine!

Overall I am very happy with the product and the key fobs look nice …
Installed on my 2005 MB ML350 that has a dead AAM so factory keyless was not working. I followed the negative trigger diagram provided and with the help of an online wiring diagram, wired this as it should be. The only issue was the lock was unlocking and vice versa so I swapped those two wires around and likely it was my fault or that of the online wiring diagram for my vehicle. I had to put a 470Ohm resistor on the lock wire since MB uses the same wire for lock/unlock. Overall I am very happy with the product and the key fobs look nice quality as well. Unit size was quite small so it fit under the center console.

Quality product at a great price!
Excellent product! I had an aftermarket keyless entry system installed when I bought my Toyota Tacoma new in 2010. It lasted about 6 years before it started acting up. It was wired to open the passenger door when you pressed the open button twice. Based upon what I read about this product I expected to loose that function. I wired this product up exactly the same as the one I disconnected, and, to my surprise and joy, the passenger door opens as it did before when the open bottom is pressed twice quickly.I’ve had this installed for nearly 8 months now and it has worked flawlessly. The price is unbelievable for such a quality product.

Fantastic Product

Purchased this to install in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon. It works flawlessly. Lots of wiring involved but not to difficult of an install. I mounted the control box in the glove box compartment and used adhesive velcro to hold it in place and hide it up above the glove box. I just have to figure out to mount an actuator in the tailgate still. The remotes feel solid too. I’ve had it installed for about 6 months or so and haven’t had a single issue. The range is also very good on the remotes.

Does the job
I guess I’m lucky – i own an automotive repair shop with an automotive electrician working for me. This required some heavy modifications to make it work – doesn’t come with everything necessary to install for an 04 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. Anyways, once my electrician did what he does it worked out great. This is definitely a system that a first timer would struggle with. Found out as well this kit is very similar to a Hyundai keyless entry system.

“Actuator wiring fix”
The media could not be loaded.
Decent unit. Most difficult thing to figure out is the lock/ unlock for a two wires actuator. Instructions need updated on that matter. Yellow/green and yellow /black to constant voltage, orange/green and orange/black to ground, white/green to actuator lead #1 white/black actuator lead#2. This will act as a “floating reverse polarity switch”. Problem solved…

Enormous bang for your buck
For $35, this is a very decent kit. If you have experience with 12v electronics, then the provided diagram will be good for you. If you’ve never installed an alarm before, the documentation will not be particularly helpful. The siren sounds real cheap, but I replaced it with a DEI I had lying around. It has provisions for trunk release, pos/neg door trigger, pos/neg door locks, dual circuit parking lights, trunk release, and one on-arm accessory. It includes a starter kill relay, though the wire gauge is smaller than desired. All in all it installs easily, doesn’t feel as cheap as it is, and was worth a few dollars more than the cheapest option on amazon

EASY single page installation instructions
If you’re mechanically inclined, own a multimeter, and a handfull of tools, you can install this in just a few minutes to a few hours depending on your skill level.I installed this into a 95 nissan hardbody using 2 relays (not included with kit) to actuate the doors. This unit does not state it but it has a window feature where it will send 0.6v+ out for 30 seconds after the alarm is turned on. This is amazing as you can wire a relay up to automatically roll up your windows. So simply by arming your alarm your car will roll up the windows and be secure. The shock sensor has a very wide range of sensitivity, from having to literaly flick it with your finger to sneezing next to it.The trunk pop is also a great feature as it’s a +12v pulse for roughly a half second.this is an extremely straight forward setup but be warned you may accidentally connect your dual relays in a way that the primary coil is constantly being energized. Be sure not to do that (theyll be warm to the touch and will eventually drain your battery). If you need help you can email katehudson at gmail for assistance 😉

Semi-easy installation.
Once I figured out how to connect the door locks on my 2001 Toyota Camry, installation was a breeze. On the wiring diagram where it says “open sign” and “close sign”, it means “unlock signal” and “lock signal” respectively. Connect these wires to their corresponding wires in your door locks writing harness. If your car’s locks are positive ground (most Japanese cars), splice both wires that say “-” on the “negative trigger” diagram to the alarm’s black wire. If they’re positive ground (most U.S. made cars), splice those same wires to the red wire (per the “positive trigger” diagram). I don’t know what the other “central control lock” mini-diagrams mean.A couple other things: “horn” is the horn the unit comes with OR you can use your car’s horn, the shock sensor is optional, I have the orange “brake” wire connected to my cigarette lighter, which is off when the key is off, and that works to activate the door locks when starting the car (personally, I would connect this to something that turns on/off with the key rather than trust that you will always put your foot on the brakes within 15 seconds to lock you safely in the car (you could probably splice it into the accessory wire)).This does not come with door lock actuators nor a trunk release solenoid.

Ignore the packaged instructions; installed on 99 Tacoma.
I am no wiring guru. I am a normal person who just works on their car. The included instructions were useless to me.What ended up working for me, for just basic lock/unlock functionality using the “Keyless Entry” version (no alarm), was as follows on a 99 Tacoma. Wiring will work with 95-00 Tacoma.1. Get wiring table from Commando Security or other website for my 99 Tacoma. Disconnect car battery.2. Print out the diagram of different lock mechanisms from the Amazon listing3. Apparently (figured out via trial and error), my truck works best with the “Negative Trigger”, so we will be using that.4. I was not going to use the parking lights / windows, so I first collected the wires on the IG unit that were not going to be used at all and tied them up and away so I can focus on the other cables. I tied up (not using) the following wires: Gray, Green, Pink (windows), Purple (Parking lights), Big Purple (trunk).5. Remove the underpanel underneath the steering wheel (4 10mm bolts, 1 phillips screw), and kick panel (snap in, but requires you to open a couple of screws on the door sill). Remove hood latch cable from the main underpanel.5. Using an automatic wire stripper, I spliced onto the White cable going up to the ignition (12V), and soldered this to the IG unit’s red wire.6. Stripped and joined the IG unit’s Black, Blue, and Yellow/Black cables, and soldered that to a ground (I added a ground cable to an existing grounded screw in the kick panel area)7. Following the wiring harness that comes from the driver side door, you can identify the harness with both the red/white cable and the red/yellow cable. This harness is in the kick panel area, not the immediate hood latch / fuse area.8. Splice and solder the IG unit’s Brown cable to the harness Red/White cable. Splice and solder the IG unit’s Yellow wire to the harness Red/Yellow Cable9. Ensure you insulate all splices.10. Tuck away the unit into the kick panel area with Zip ties or the double-sided foam tape.11. Test and confirm it is working before re-assembling the interior panels.

Great deal
I bought this keyless entry system for a 1992 car I just purchased. It worked great and was easy to install. However I will warn anyone without automotive mechanical experience the directions are terrible. So if you’r not familiar with the car your installing it on, don’t expect the directions to offer any assistance. With that being said everything worked great once installed. I can open the trunk, flash lights, honk horn and the range is actually really good for such an inexpensive unit. Definitely a great deal for anyone looking for basic keyless entry functions on an older car.

Good product for the price; instructions are lacking
Like many people here have said, this product seems robust and of good quality. But if you know nothing about wiring, this isn’t a product you’ll want to tackle yourself.I work on my own vehicles, so I know my way around my cars. But if I didn’t, I wouldn’t know what to do with this product out of the box. If you’re a do-it-yourselfer, be ready to investigate (online and under the dash) your specific vehicle’s wiring system. Not just the wires and their respective colors, but whether your system is negative-or positive- triggered, and how your door locks are actuated (air, electric, not at all). The instructions are confusing, and poor at best, and my 2 attempts to contact the company for product support went unanswered. I eventually found my answers by reading other customers’ reviews, and trial and error. For the money, I’m super happy that I can now unlock and lock my doors remotely (because my driver’s key lock cylinder froze up permanently, leaving me with only the passenger door as my way in). This took me 2-3 hours all told.

Changed my review, there is one totally annoying thing – causing complete removal!
For the price, it’s a decent alarm and it’s nice that it has on-board relays for door lock solenoids. If I could give ZERO stars…, I would! Read update below..But…, one thing I found (and it was my own mistake) is that you CANNOT use the normal wire splices to connect to the various important feeds (ACC, +12v, Parking, Brake, etc.), you MUST strip and solder to feed wires. Problem is, splices are made for 16-18ga wires and the wires that this alarm comes with are like hair thin, so splices don’t cut through insulation and connect. If you use the red ones (for 20-24ga wires), then it cuts TOO MUCH of the vehicle feed wire (normally 18-16ga or so), not leaving enough current carrying capacity. I learned all this the hard way. One thing that’s become utterly and almost intolerably annoying, about ten seconds after you get out of the car, or into your car, or just open a door, it loudly chips three times, no matter what, alarm on, off, whatever. It’s become so bloody annoying I fear just opening a door now. Anyway, I bumped my rating up as I thought for sure my ACC was connected (even the metal blade in the splice showed +12v, but it wasn’t cutting into the wire for the alarm, so the alarm never knew when ACC was on or off and would set the alarm off if anything weird happened (all the time!). Anyway, my fault. Once all wires were double checked and stripped/soldered instead of spliced, the alarm works as it should (but I reserve the right to reduce my rating if the longevity of the alarm proves to be an issue…)Orig review: Like many, MANY other reviewers here, I have NO idea how this got such high reviews. The alarm sets itself off 5-seconds after you arm it, no matter how you program it, or what you do. No lights on, nothing, still just goes off by itself. After a full day of professional install, now another day to extract the POS and another day to install something else that may or may not work.Message from seller states to “disconnect door switch function” to stop the unstoppable loud three-beeps after doors are opened/closed. Let’s see…, this alarm only has to triggers I can use. The doors and vibration. So…, no way to stop the bloody thing from constantly beeping with door opening, regardless of whether the alarm is off (when an alarm is OFF, I want it bloody well OFF!!!), just remove that function and voila, no beeping (and no alarm when a door is opened, great, as long people don’t move the car too much, just open up and take what you want!)For the labor/work integrating this install, this is totally unacceptable. Others have gone as far as turning power off to the alarm when not in use, but that doesn’t answer the problem. You use to lock doors going in for groceries, then come out, use the clicker to turn it off and open doors, but it’s not really “off” until you find the power switch you installed in the feed line (12v) for the alarm…

The product worked well, I loved having keyless entry. However, after letting my truck sit for a few days my battery died. Happened every time I let my truck sit. Easy to install!
I suggest bench testing this before you install. There are several ways this system will work, depending on the need for the particular truck you’re working on. Once I figured out which wire diagram I was going to use, install was a breeze.Throw the included instructions away and follow what’s shared in the above ad. No idea on longevity or range as my truck is still in the final stages of my restoration.

Use schematic in the listing
As the earlier Tacoma review noted, just use the schematic in the listing, ignore the supplied “schematic” aka mind-bending nonsense. Easy to install if you ignore the sheet that comes with the kit which is counterintuitive at best. Only have had it installed for a few weeks but works well on a P80 V70 Volvo – which requires the negative trigger installation.

Great little product with exception
A lot of people complained about the instructions. The instructions are lacking a little if you are not familiar with car alarms. If you know what you are doing it does make sense. After a week of research I was able to figure out the meaning of terms and the instructions. Most of it is simple point to point wiring. The hardest part is and will be the door locks. You really need to research the type of locks you have and that is where the terminology and understanding of the circuit comes into play. I was installing mine on a 1990 ford mustang and these have type c reverse polarity door locks. The 5 wire relay configuration. Now once you understand that you can wire it up using the provided wires since the unit comes with onboard relays to do the job. I did try that first and it works for the most part but the wires do not carry enough current to open and close both sides of the locks. I happened to have two SPDT relays from work that I wired up using the five wire configuration. The catch is you have to cut the door lock and unlock wires and split the signal. That was the hard part to understand. What helped me was the 451M instructions. It explains everything you need to know about the different door locks and how to determine which is the switch side and which is the door lock side of the wires you just cut. If you don’t have these relays then I highly recommend the 451M. I used those instructions and used the install gear module to trigger those relays instead of using them to fire the locks directly. This allowed me to provide more amperage with thicker wires. Again I highly recommend researching the 451M module which is basically two relays in one unit. The only wires I didn’t use where the started relay cutoff wires and the window wire.Good luck and I hope this helps. There were no videos or websites that explained exactly what to do so that is why I am trying to provide some insight for future customers.

Instructions are basically useless.
Great value for the money. First, throw away the instruction included. It’s basically useless…it’s written in heiroglyphics. Installation went smooth for me thanks to commenter Ostin with exact description and picture of color coded wires, I wired up my Toyota Rav4 in no time.
